Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
Here's the short version: we collect what we need to register your club, contact you about ShowCricket, and run the service. We don't sell your data. We use Google Analytics only if you accept cookies. You can ask us to delete your data at any time. The full detail is below.
1. Who we are
ShowCricket (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a digital signage platform for cricket clubs. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hello@showcricket.com.
2. The data we collect
2.1 When you join the waitlist
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your club’s name and county
- The Play Cricket club identifier (where supplied)
2.2 When you use the dashboard
- Your account email and authentication tokens
- Your role at your club and any clubs you administer
- Slide and playlist configuration you create
- Audit log entries for changes you make in the CMS
2.3 When a display runs in your clubhouse
- A randomly generated display identifier (stored on the TV’s browser)
- The screen dimensions and user agent of the display
- Heartbeat timestamps so we know whether a display is online
2.4 Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cookie preferences. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the public site and the dashboard. You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer.
3. Why we use your data
- To deliver the service — accounts, sign-in, the dashboard, the displays, and the data shown on screen.
- To respond to waitlist requests — we’ll contact you to arrange onboarding when we’re ready to bring your club on board.
- To improve ShowCricket — anonymous analytics help us see which features clubs use and where to focus.
- To meet legal obligations — record keeping, fraud prevention, responding to lawful requests.
4. Our legal basis
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR depending on the data and purpose:
- Consent — for analytics cookies and marketing communications.
- Contract — for delivering the service to your club.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the service secure, responding to enquiries from prospective clubs, and basic logging.
5. Data we get from Play Cricket
ShowCricket pulls match data, fixtures, results, league tables and player statistics from Play Cricket using their public API. This data is owned by the ECB and the participating clubs. We cache it in our systems so we can display it on your TVs without re-fetching every few minutes. We don’t use this data for any purpose other than rendering the slides for the club it relates to.
6. Sharing your data
We don’t sell your data. We do share it with the third-party services that help us run ShowCricket:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and realtime backend.
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics (only with your consent).
- Open-Meteo — weather data for the ground-weather slide. No personal data is sent.
Each of these processors handles data on our instructions and under appropriate data processing terms.
7. International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses to make sure your data remains protected to UK GDPR standards.
8. How long we keep your data
- Waitlist requests — kept until we either onboard your club or you ask us to delete the request.
- Active accounts — kept while your club is using the service, plus a retention period of up to 12 months after you ask us to close the account, for support and audit purposes.
- Analytics data — Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months by default.
- Audit logs — kept for up to 24 months.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any inaccurate personal data.
- Ask us to delete your personal data (the “right to be forgotten”).
- Object to certain types of processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you think we’ve mishandled your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@showcricket.com. We’ll respond within one calendar month.
10. How we keep your data secure
Personal data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to a small team and requires multi-factor authentication. We log changes to sensitive resources (audit logs) so we can investigate any incidents. If we ever suffer a personal data breach that’s likely to affect you, we’ll notify you and the ICO without undue delay.
11. Children
ShowCricket is for cricket clubs and the adults who run them. We don’t knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13. Player names appearing in fixtures, results, or leaderboards come from Play Cricket data the club has already published.
12. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top tells you when the most recent revision happened. For material changes, we’ll notify registered clubs by email.
13. Contact us
For anything in this policy — including data subject requests, security questions, or just to say hello — email hello@showcricket.com.
